This is my first fixed gear, a recently completed commuter bike. It's taken me about two weeks to fully get used to riding fixed, but I'm totally hooked. Here's what it's made of:

58 cm Nishiki Sport frame 170mm Sugino cranks 38 x 18 gearing (which is a wee bit short for the flat parts of my commute, but my knees thank me going up the hills of San Francisco), with a Sugino chainring and Surly track cog. The rear wheel I built, with a Nashbar track hub and Sun CR-18 rim, and the front wheel is a Mavic rim on a Dura-Ace hub, off my old commuter bike. Bars and tape from Chuck's Bikes, a long reach Tektro caliper brake and cyclocross lever, and SKS fenders for the spring rains round out the bike.

The sexy electrical tape finish is a result of needing to lock up on the street all day long.

Finally, I know the background in these pictures is a little busy, but it matched my bike's paint -- how could I resist? Just some of the amazing paint that abounds in SF.
