Dan Venter brought this bike to the 2nd Fixed Gear Gallery Symposium after = having me build it up for him. He was new to fixed gear bikes at the time and he jumped right in with a Gu= nner.
Here is how we built it up....
Grey Gunnar Street Dog Campagnolo Record Track Crank 49t pulling a Phil Wood 17t cog and a massive= Connex 1G8 BMX chain. For wheels I built up a set of Mavic Open Pro Rims with a set of Phil Wood = Track Hubs and Continental Top Touring Tires. Up front we started with a Nitto Mustache Bar, but recently swapped to a Ni= tto Flat Bar, Paul Brake Levers, pulling a set of Campagnolo Chorus Caliper= s. Stem just had to be a Thompson sitting on a Chris King Headset. To finish things off, we went with a Fizik Aliante Carbon Rail Saddle and a= sweet Campagnolo Chorus Titanium Seatpost.
Sweet build. I remember Dan asked me half way through the build, "is this = to much bike for a first fixed gear" As a mechanic (not sales guy) I responded aaah, oh, aaahh well yes.....Lets= go for it, and he did, and loved it.
